'Woooosshh' = the sound of my own company being launched!

Ik hoorde de snelle 'wooooosshh' bijna letterlijk in mijn oren: wat is dít ineens hard gegaan! Lang verhaal kort: ik kreeg al een tijd opdrachten op mij af en dacht 'waarom schrijf ik mij eigenlijk niet in bij de KVK'? Geen spannend verhaal, gewoon een hoofd boordevol ideeën en enige nonchalance... En zodoende: daar is mijn eigen bedrijf genaamd 'Genotypical', waarmee ik hoop menig mens te inspireren over DNA, de natuur, en evolutie!

Voor het bedrijf lever ik zowel producten (o.a. in de vorm van sieraden, zie het beginnetje van mijn webshop op Etsy hier en zie het nieuwe Instagram account via de roze icon hieronder) als diensten (o.a. in de vorm van sprekersklussen). Sinds vorige week sta ik dus officieel ingeschreven bij de KVK, en deze dinsdag (28 juni) trap ik mijn sprekersactiviteiten af door een lezing te geven voor Trinity in de Hooglandse kerk in Leiden in het kader van Leiden European City of Science 2022. Dolenthousiast, en trots, ben ik. Ik creëerde zojuist een beetje het idee dat ik simpelweg naar de KVK ben gegaan en 'ineens' een bedrijf had, maar in de realiteit ging dit natuurlijk wel iets anders... Bepaalde ideeën spookten al bijna een jaar door mijn hoofd, maar ik ben de afgelopen maanden pas echt náást mijn fulltime baan als wetenschapper druk bezig geweest met alle voorbereidingen. En nu nog steeds. Want administratief en wettelijk moe(s)t er een hoop geregeld worden.

Er zijn momenteel nog enkele bijzondere diensten/producten in ontwikkeling: die had ik graag gelijktijdig gelanceerd, maar hierover kan ik later pas meer kwijt. Houd daarom mijn kanalen goed in de gaten en voor nu zou ik zeggen: neem vooral een kijkje op de Genotypical pagina (via de knop hieronder en ook via het hoofdmenu te bereiken) en contacteer mij gerust als je vragen hebt! English: I could've sworn I heard this 'woooshh' sound - because this all happened so fast! Long story short: I was receiving invites and assignments regularly and then I thought: "maybe I should register with the KVK" (Dutch Chamber of Commerce). No exciting story, just a head full of ideas and some nonchalance... And there it was: my own company named 'Genotypical'! Through Genotypical I hope to inspire a broad audience regarding DNA, nature and evolution.

Through my company I deliver both products (mostly jewellery, see the first listings on Etsy here and the new Instagram account through the pink button above) as well as services (mostly speaking jobs, lectures/speeches). Since last week I am officially registered through the KVK and this Tuesday (the 28th of June) I will kick off the speaker thing, as I will give a lecture at Trinity in the 'Hooglandse kerk'/church of Leiden for Leiden European City of Science 2022. I am super excited and proud. I just made it sound like I simply went to the KVK and 'suddenly' had a business, but obviously this was a little more of a struggle in reality. Some ideas had been floating inside my head for almost a year already, but the last couple of months I really have been busy with all the preparations - next to my fulltime job as a scientist, of course! And now I'm still working on things at the moment. Administratively and legally, stuff simply needed/needs to be arranged.

Now I am still developing some special services/products: I wish I could launch everything immediately, but I will be able to tell more about those in-progress things later.
